Pilates is an innovative system of mind body exercise which has evolved from principles originally developed by Joseph H Pilates, a physical therapist and dancer.
Pilates and can dramatically transform the way your body looks and feels by building core muscle strength and muscle tone without adding bulk. This will help you to build stability and muscle tone, and don’t forget about a flat abdomen.
Our class sessions are either private or small group semi-private so you will be under the watchful eye of studio director Hana Lauterkranc or one of our capable instructors. Exercise routines are tailored to your individual fitness needs and limitations. Our instructors are experienced dancers or athletes.
Pilates is a sensible exercise system that will help you look and feel your very best. It helps you develop body awareness, good posture and easy, graceful movement. You will also gain improved flexibility, agility. It can even help alleviate back pain.
Pilates keys on the mental focus of the physical movements being performed. With this type of exercise quality of movement is stressed over quantity of movement. Our instructors often use verbal “cues” and coaching to help you integrate your breathing with your movement and proper body alignment. Don’t forget to breathe!

Getting Started with Pilates
If you’re unsure where to start, please feel free to contact Hana to schedule. We offer an Introductory package which includes 3 private sessions and a half hour consultation. During that consultation, Hana will discuss your fitness needs and limitations and recommend a path forward. Many of our clients have been referred by chiropractors, osteopaths, and physical therapists and we are sensitive to the needs of people with injuries, chronic pain, or people seeking to enhance their post-rehab fitness routines.
